Peanut Butter on Dull Chrome Works!
1 Attachment(s)
So I stopped at the filling station today and noticed that some punk wiped peanut butter on my rear hatch in a small area near the rain gutter aluminum trim. As I was wiping it away with a napkin it smeared a bit over the aluminum and brought out a nice shine. Better than any polish I have tried! George Washington Carver never had this on his list of the amazing things the modest peanut could do!! I know that it works great on door handles, as seen here in this forum, but on aluminum too? Who knew!?:)

That is aluminum.
And I'll give it a try. |
it will not last long. The anodizing on the aluminum trim has aged and is failing. It will need to be stripped and reanodized. I've tried everything to try and fix it.

Jiffy to the rescue, was wondering what to use ,it was in my pantry the whole time diguised as a tastey bread spread..

PB Blaster works better and lasts longer.

I used seafoam on it before, which is very similar to PB, but it didn't last very long. I guess it was too thin of an oil to last. Peanut butter is more pasty, so we'll see. I'll let you guys know what it looks like tomorrow. |

What about the tidal flooding, nor'easters, and hurricanes? That might affect the finish on the aluminum trim. I need SKIPPY SUPER CHUNK!!! |
I figured this one out by accident.
Packing tape. Yes clear thin packing tape. I was using it on one of my foam model airplanes and stuck the excess on the chrome strips, just to get it out of my hair.. I had flying to do. I forgot about it and a few days later noticed that everywhere that had tape on it was shinny. I am guessing the tape reflects light. You cannot tell it's on there. Pull it off and you will have residue from the tape. Give it a try. |
you know if peanut butter works, crisco lard would probably work too.
|
^ Then you'd have the neighborhood fat farm drop outs licking your car!

it's more likely to be the peanut oil rather than the cream of the peanut butter itself. i'd guess any vegetable oil (peanuts are vegetables, rite?) would work for a temporary shine. course nothing is better than concentrated simple green
