What's that plate on the engine the transmission attaches to called?

It's behind the flywheel... where the tach sensor is in 85s. It's descriptively called a "flange" (6170110545) in the EPC

Question 2 is how many/what kind/where to get the bolts to attach it.

flywheel inspection plate i think

toomany MBZ 12-09-2009 09:38 PM

Flex plate?

Don't think either of those answers are correct.

I see "BELL HOUSING INTERMEDIATE FLANGE" floating around... it's not helping any in terms of finding bolts.

I always called them an adaptor plate.

This what you talking about?

The official MB FSM calls it the "Intermediate Plate".

Yep. Wonder why those two are different...

To undo the bolts you (logically really) need the tranny removed and the flywheel or flex plate removed. Then its a piece of cake.;)

One is off a 240D and the other is off a 78 300CD with the 722.118 Automatic.
