how to door actuator?
I've been having vacuum issues, lately, and think I have narrowed it down to the RR door actuator. (This comes after replacing lots of 2,3 and 4 way connectors, a couple vacuum lines, master door switch,etc,...) I plugged the lines that are left in the door, and the car turns off now, and the other doors lock and unlock fine from the drivers door.
My question is how do I check the suspected bad door actuator? I have mightyvac and checked the top connector with the bottom one open, and it lifts, when I plug the lower one, and try it it doesn't lift. I did the reverse with the lower, and it lowers with or without the top plugged. Thanks, Rick 82 300d Last edited by Rickenhacker; 12-30-2009 at 07:28 PM. |

It is easy to remove the actuator from the car to do a long leak down check. It has been a while since I repaired my one door lock actuator. If I remember correctly, you leave one side open to do the test. Pull vacuum until it lifts or drops on either side of the actuator. Then pull up to 10in. HG and see if it holds vacuum. If it does... The actuator is good. If it leaks at all.... It is bad.
