What head do I have 87 TDT

I'm working on gathering information to buy some injectors from C Sean Watts, I'm trying to determine what head I have and maybe one of you can tell me if it's a Fine or coarse thread

Between the First 2 injectors there's what looks like a letter T.

A little Further down near the Cross over tube there is
"Mercedes Benz"
R603 016 17 01 Stamped

By the Third injector there is a Z3 stamped there. Any ideas?

The head number is cast in the aluminum. It is on the left (driver's) side of the head and almost exactly under the air pipe that crosses over the valve cover. You don't need a mirror but a bright flashlight will help and hope that there's not too much oil and dirt. You have to look between the injector hard lines and see a little bit of the number, then shift your view and see a little bit more. The number should be 603 016 xx 01 where xx is the head revision number. AFAIK, the choices for "xx" are 14, 17, 20, and 22. The "603" means it was first used in the 603 engine; the "016" means it is part of the air intake system, and the "xx" means the revision number. I forget what the final 01 is and it could be some other number too.

Small Relief Actually, I was wondering for a little while what head I had, I've read some horror stories about the 14 if they are not looked after...

Yes issues are if the head is severely overheated... would you drive the car at 120°C for many miles? Nope, neither would I.

I have a No 14 and it has no problems.



Help the motor stay cool with the updated fan, fan clutch, red fan switch, good fan, clean AC condenser, good radiator, etc.

LOL, I Actually did it to pull your leg a little I've been resisting temptation for awhile and it got the best of me this time around lol

so, the general Consensus is that I have the 17 head? how do I find out if I have fine or coarse threads without pulling an injector out?
