Considering a sleeping 300D TD

I have a neighbor with a very straight 300D Turbo Diesel. I would like to buy this car- here is what I know.

VIN: WDBAB33A5CB008106
Car has round headlights, yellow fog lights
Engine does not turn over, but was running when last parked (1 year).
It is currently registered in CA- Original owner
Mileage unknown.

They don't know the year, but if they ever find the pink slip, I guess we'd know then.

They are thinking of donating the car.
What do you guys think would be fa fair price (as is- I can coast it to my house if necessary)

According to the Russion VIN decoder it's an Orient Red 1982 300D turbodiesel, California version. Here's the link. Mark

Right. It is red. Very oxidized, but even. Body is near perfect, interior is average for the year.

I was considering offering $300 to $500.
I live close enough that I can coast it home if necessary.

Don't go any higher

I would say $200/$300 for a non running 82 300D turbo. If you have to junk it, they don't pay much these days.

Odds are, with some new fuel it'll start right up. Was it running when parked?

You can't go wrong with spending a few hundred bucks to buy it.

Yes, it was running. They tried to jump start it a month ago but it would not crank. I kinda figure if they go for the low ball offer, I can coast it home and put a battery in it from my F250 and go from there.

I asked her what she was expecting in terms of $$, and she said they were thinking donating it and getting $700 to $1,000. I did offer $300, and she said she needed to talk with Dad. We'll see... I can wait. It's not going anywhere...
