Disconnected cables on valve cover 240D - where do they go

Bringing my 1982 240D Euro up to snuff.

Take a look at this pic. There are two cables that don't go anywhere, looks like they are both broken off. What should the configuration be like?

That cable should go back to your idle knob on your dash.

One is for the idle knob, and one is likely for the Cruise Control. If they have been cut...you will at least need a new idle control cable, and possibly a new cruise control actuator.

Ok, thanks, but where ON THIS SIDE (on the valve cover) do they go? They are not attached to anything.

Funny, the idle knob works... The cruise control doesn't, though.
