93 300D 124: new engine click/hiss noise

A few days ago, i started hearing a new clicking noise. i have narrowed it down and it appears to be coming from the neighborhood of the injection pump/injector nozzles, etc. certainly not a nailing or lifter noise. it increases and decreases with the engine rpm and my guess is it matches the injection pulses. i have inspected the injector/injector lines to see if there could be a pinprick hole or leak such that the noise is a high pressure hiss/leak, but found nothing. i did a proper two can diesel purge and it made absolutely no difference. i can feel an air pulse near the cylinder 3 area (under the crossover pipe and around the fuel return lines, but for the life of me cannot find the source. any thoughts?

Improperly seated or loose Injector ?

Then ,You'd only need a New Injector Heat Shield.

(Worst possible case: Pre-Chamber not sealing in Head)

(I hate h2o near Ferrous,But...)
Soapy water from spray bottle ,on the #3 Injector immediate area...
'Looking for "Tiny Bubbles".

EDIT: (Urrrghhkkkkk !)

'Taken the Intake crossover loose lately?
(Gasket between the Crossover and the Intake itself?)

How can I determine if the pre-chamber is sealed properly? i have what appears to be a small accumulation of engine oil around the base of the injector where it meets the head. Could that be a clue?

Get a piece of smaller diameter hose to locate the source. When you are on top of the leak area you will hear it louder.

I bet it is a prechamber leak. I have had both my 93 and 90 do this. It is not engine oil leaking from around it, it is fuel mixed with soot and the compression blows it up and out. To detect witch one it is, Look around the injector for plastic rings around them (they just keep debris out of the prechamber lock ring), they will be melted if they are still there, u don't have to have them. Then totally clean the area with brake cleaner and compressed air and get all debris out of around the injector. Start and run and look for the leak or u could fill the cavity with oil or penetrating oil and see were the air bubbles come from (there is a tang to position the prechamber and it usually come froma round there).

If u remove injector u have to replace the sealing washer everytime the injector is torqued down also, i could be this also but i suspect not.

If precahmber is leaking, u have to have special tools to remove, also need to pull intake and glow plugs. Do a search on precahmber i have commented on this before.
