Can Parts Be Interchanged????

I have a 1984 300SD. Found a 1987 420SEL ( I think ). Will front seats fit my car? My power seat died ( another post ) and I wonder if this would bolt in. I did get the switch unit, and it seems to be the same.
Also, what is involved in getting the dash board covering off. The '87 has a crack-free unit.
Thanks

Since they are both W126 chassis, I suppose there is a great amount of interchange. One difference in the seat controls might be the memory function. The seats, themselves should fit.

I finally found an old post that says, yes, seat will fit.

Question: the '87 switch has a tiny third button on it. What does it do? I took the switch off my '84, it too has the third tiny button on the switch , but the post is cut off and cover plate is solid. Has pins on back for wires.

Might be to activate a memory system that puts the seat back into the last position before moved. Not sure just a wild guess as in those few years there might have been a little upgrade in the seat function.

Or maybe something to do with the headrest. The gas car you found had some computor capacity that the diesel lacked I would have thought..
