Has anyone ever heard of GasTec Shocks?

Hey Folks,

Has anyone ever heard of GasTec shocks?

If so are they any good? I don't expect them to be as good or as popular as HD Bilsteins for my 1981 W123 300D but they are less than half price!

http://link.marktplaats.nl/324430894

89 Euros for two on the front - and the seller says they have a 3 year warranty (yeah I know whilst I have never had a successful warranty claim it does sometimes indicate a certain degree of quality does it not?)

Any advice would be welcome.

Am I wasting my time and money?

If it seems too good to be true it probably is... Remember that cheap parts are cheap parts.

What were you going to spend that extra money on anyway?

GasTrash, yeah I've heard of them. Bilsteins walk all over them in performance and last years longer.

If you plan on keeping the car for a while get shocks that last ~ Bilsteins. At the end of the day, you only get what you pay for.

I'm not planning on keeping my 250 for long, but the front shocks were not working at all, so I threw in a pair of Gabriel Ultra cheapies from Auto Zoo. They were $25 each and work plenty well right now. I don't know how long they'll last, but I really don't intend to find out.

Well thanks for the advice - I'll have to work harder or get some serious discount. I'm planning to replace and rebuild the entire front suspension and steering to stop my nose diving submarine impressions when some one cuts me up!

At the moment I'm wallowing around a little bit like a 1970s Range Rover...

Thanks again.

Update - I've taken your advice - I got a pair of HD Bilsteins for the front from a chap for a really good price (almost the same as the cost of the cheapo ones). I'm gonna be fitting them along with the new rubber bits I've ordered. So hopefully I won't be doing my submarine impressions anymore.

Thanks for the tips
