More Vacuum Pump Help!

I know there are a lot of threads about rebuilding the early style vc but after looking around I can't find the piece of info I'm looking for. I rebuilt my vacuum and have had weak vacuum ever since. I am nearly positive that I put together everything right, but the center bolt isn't the right tightness. After trying trial and error I am tired. I want to know if anybody has the proper torque specifications? I really don't want to tear out the ps steering belt and fan if I don't have to. This way I can just take off the front of the pump. Thanks for your help!

I have read in the forum that on several occasions the O-rings/seals that come in some kits and go under the little circular Vacuum Pump Valves are not fat enough to seal.
The result was poor or no Vacuum.
Some simply reused the old O-rings.

What year/style pump?

It is a 1979 240 D.

That should have the early diaphragm pump. What kind of vacuum readings are you getting from the pump? Did you install the check valves in the right direction?

I'm fairly certain I installed them in the right direction I am getting 10 hg off the white nipple coming out of the power booster cable.

Yes, unless you live at 10,000 ft, that is low. Have you checked it directly at the pump. Your brake booster might be leaking.
