Ignition Switch Problem?
Hello All!
Car is 87 300SDL with 240k miles. I want to confirm which part I need to purchase. The car will not crank. When I turn the key to the "glow plug"/run position all is fine. When I turn the key to crank the car - nothing happens and it does not feel right. The key easily just moves to the crank position and the "spring back"/resistance is not there. The starter is fine - if I put the key in the run position and use one of those remote starter switches - the car fires right up. Do I just need to just buy the ignition switch (it seems to be listed as the electrical part?) or is there something else to buy? Thanks! Richard |
Could it be your neutral safety switch? Probably not if your remote starter works. But you might try shifting through the gears and try starting it.
