1985 300SD rear differential bearing change

My 85 SD came with an ABS system. The rear differential started to get noisy and I changed it out with a used one, which came off a vehicle without ABS. ABS systems were rather new in 85, thus no luck in getting a good used one. The diff housing for the ABS has a boss, where the brake speed sensor screws into.

I'd like to restore my original diff to get the ABS working again. Any suggestions who can do this work satisfactorily? Tolerances on these hypoid gears are very critical. Anybody specialized in this?

Lots and lots of pnp's in Calif. You should be haunting your local ones looking for a right one. Craigslist is another place to add a want listing too.

Diver, where are you located? I have a 2:88 out of a 85 300SD with the ABS, and 183K indicated on the spedo.

I pulled it for a spare last month. we have lots on PNP`s, but this is only the second 85 SD I have seen in the last 2yrs.
