300CD Turbo had no power Now it rips!

Well it doesn't really rip but I can say that it suprised me compared to what I had two days ago when I purchased it.

I thought I hit the jackpot $1300 for 300CD Turbo no rust everything was pretty clean body is straight, good service history etc... then I drove it from Portland to Washington and it was a pig. Very slow uphill and really could not excellerate much past 2k rpms it ran like crap (30-40 uphill). It did get me home and after scanning the forums on multiple sites I tried the ALDA cleanup from dieselgiant and that actually seemed to be an improvement but I still couldn't get it much past 2k unless I was going downhill.

So I did what everyone said is the first step and although I was told the fuel filter was just replaced and it really didn't look dirty to me I did it anyway(Thank God!). I replaced the screw in filter and the clear filter, then I pumped the primer a few times and it started right up.

Time for the road test. I rounded the corner to the 4-way entering the highway and floored it! Holly crap I actually broke the tires loose and second gear nice chirp and third gear 70 + still pulling finally letup at 75 and it softly shifted into 4th. I have redeemed my desicion to buy this car its actually really fun to drive and its not a slug. I can now peg the speedo at 140km no problem. 294k and it just needs some minor tweeking I'll replace the suspension so thats all nice and tight I just put new eclipse rubber on today as a reward for the power granted by the MB gods

Very happy owner of the 300CD Turbo! Thanks to all that said start with the basics. If you have a power problem certainly there are many things that can cause it but first replace those fuel filters.

Cheers!
