Arghh! Bad day- 83 300D won't turn off!
So my car was running well but the AC belt was destroyed last fall by a valet parking attendant who did not pre-start car and I saw the him rev the crap out of it and the ac belt was burning and snapped. So today I replaced it and found out that the AC compressor had seize so I'm scheduling with my indy to replace it. However, now the car won't shut off! I don't see any vacuum hoses not connected, is this something as simple as this all of a sudden or what could it be? I loosened the compressor and the power steering belts when I was messing around. Thoughts? Thanks.

More than likely a vac leak, how do your door locks function? Good?
Otherwise a failed shut off actuator would be my guess.

Solved, I just pushed the plastic tubes under the hood heading towards the ignition. I guess it wasn't tight. My door were working fine a for the last year but a couple of months ago they stopped locking/unlocking with the driver's lock.

Changed the oil lately? Did you check the line to the shut off valve?
Also, with that age, the vacuum elbows on the all of the hard lines too and from the ignition switch and shut off valve could be compromised (checked). Some easy things to check. Isolating the other systems (IE: A/C, door locks) and looking for the obvious is a good place to start. Worst case would be low vacuum due to a failing vacuum pump, check valve, crack in main line, worn diaphragm in the brake booster (losing lots of vacuum), etc...

Would you believe me if I told you that the owner of a 240D hooked a clear plastic hose to the IP shut-off and the other end was in the car. apparantly he would suck on the hose to kill the engine
