Where is the manual sun roof closer?

I read over my instruction manual and searched these forums and for the love of me I cannot find this "red" nut that I can use to close my sun roof!

Where is it? I'm in my college parking lot and would like to close it

should be in your trunk, drivers side, below the spring for the deck lid.
pull away the carpet, and there it will be.

Ah I saw a picture.

On my 85 the little guy is a white 17mm hex nut. I tried turning it and it sounds like it wants to grab, but it isn't moving the sun roof.

What am I doing wrong?

start searching, I'm sure it's been covered here.

Yeah sorry vstech. My issue is the sun roof is as far is it can open and I can't pull down the headliner.

I'm at whits end. I'm tempted to get a trash bag at this point.

My owner's manual says to close it going clock wise. I guess at this point it won't hurt to give it a try.

So the question for the group is, when I turn the nut does it move really slowly? I don't seem to notice it moving.

Also is it theoretically possible for me to remove the motor and just pull/push the thing shut?

No it's not making any noise. I can tell it's pulling power though. The lights dim when I press the down button.

Is there anyway to get this unhooked from the motor so I can pull it by hand? I have the headliner apart and I disconnected the front end of the cable.

I'm going to pull the motor out. I'm done playing nice with this thing.

Edit: I slapped my head when I realized this. I pulled the little c-clip out and that now allows me to pull and push entire sun roof now!

Thank goodness. Now I have a dip in the roof when it is closed so I can see into the car. At least I have it closed now.

I'm going to convert this sucker to a manual.

Edit 2: Alright. I have the son of a B closed Man over machine once again. However to lock the unit upward there is this weird type of latching mechanism that pushes up. So sadly I'm going to have to drive without a sun roof head liner for a while.

There is a gent in town who has a 300TD with a manual roof. I'm going to call my friend one weekend and dissect that machine apart for when I go home.
