W115 vs. W123 brake pads

I have a set of front brake pads for a 115, but no 115. Can I use them on my 123? they have the same dimensions, except the metal is cadmium plated (I think) instead of painted and they have four holes in them.

I also have a head gasket set for a 615, but again, no 615. Can I use it on my 616? How about the manifold gasket?

Look in the buy parts tab above for your model and part#`s.

the brake pads are the same.

I believe the 615 gasket is slightly different from the 616.

gaskets are different part numbers, but the pictures look the same. The picture looks different from what I have, though.

Thought the 114/115 front pads were the same as Early W123's...(Pre 1980)

But Thinner friction material than the Later W123 pad

--Earlier pad will fit a Later W123, but the Later Pad wont fit an Earler W123!

--I found out the hard way when I fitted some re-man Calipers to my old 208TE/300D project...

In my experience the rear pads are the same on the 123 but the fronts on the 115 are smaller.

The front calipers from a 123 make an excellent upgrade for the 115 chassis. They bolt on and use the same rotor but the caliper is larger diameter and the pads are larger so they give a lot more stopping power.

You need new hoses though because although they are interchangible the new positiion of the hoses will make an older hose crack over a few months and begin to seep.

my 114 did not have the wear sensors on the front. If the 115 pads don't have the holes for the wear sensors then they wouldn't be the correct pads.

Bumping an old thread.

I am refurbishing the brakes on a 75 300D and the brake pads I got shipped in from a known Benz supplier are too thick. I have the calipers bottomed completely out and there is no way these will fit. The car has the larger calipers (found that out trying to buy locally when the pads were too small) with the pads that have the spot for the sensors.
I may have answered my own question. Part number for mine are d8145aosm which looks to be 17.5 MM total thickness and the correct pads show 15MM thick.
Thanks for any direction here.

Remove the caliper from the car.
Insert the new pads in the caliper.
Use two large screwrivers as pry bars to open up the gap between the pads.

You may also need to lightly chamfer the leading edge of the pads.
Many brake pads have the chamfer omitted in the maufacturing process.

Position the caliper, with (chamfered) pads, on the rotor and tap into place with a rubber mallet.

If that doesn't work you may have to physically remove some additional pad material from the whole pad and not just the edge.
(I think the side of the stone on a bench grinder would work to make an even cut, if you are careful.)

Looking at some other threads, the pad is suppose to be 15MM thick, These are 17.5 end to end, there is no way they will fit on this rotor without shaving 5MM total off of them which I have done before but with a belt sander which I do not have now. I think I will just order another set.

I thought the 115 pads were smaller than 123. They may have the 123 calipers.

Mine is a 300D and it has the larger calipers, found that out when he gave me the smaller pads. I didn't think to check thickness on the second trip but the caliper rebuild kit and pads were too small. It takes the pads with the wear sensor just doesn't have them.
