Rear Carrier /Spindle Bushing completed - Pic

I finally tackled my rear carrier bushing on my wagon. Both side developed a major squeak several months ago. I drove to Pierre Hadary's with jack stands and used his special tool. I highly recommend using a special tool! It took me, an amateur, probably two hours to complete both. And that is with me having Pierre take a peak here and there (I was afraid to break his special tool.)

I have seen a writeup where a guy used a jack to lower the arm. This is not necessary, here is a summary:

- Jack rear of car up and place on jack stands.
- Remove wheels
- Removed plastic covers on control arms. (10mm socket)
- Remove bolt that goes through the bushing. (2x 22mm I think it was; need second to hold nut)
- Once bolt is out, the whole spindle assembly pushes up and separates from the control arm, which remains down due to spring tension. There is no danger here. No need for spring compressor.
- Now follow procedure for using tool to get old bushing out, and new one in. Then reverse. (Brake shields may need to be bent a little for clearance).

Anyhow, they both looked like this:

Should be like this:
