Lightbulb Atlanta Dieselers Meet???

Just wondering how many on this board are in the Atlanta, GA area, and would be interested in getting together sometime soon before the weather gets too cold. I don't have many MB buddies around here, and even fewer diesel-heads!

If anyone's interested, let's talk about it!

Mike

That's one of the sweetest-looking W116 SD's I've seen...and stately, too.

Thank you......

I don't have any service records for the car...the person I bought it from either lost them, or never had them...but I know it was first purchased as a company car, so it was probably well cared for during that time at least, and it was in great shape when I bought it.

Like my site says, I'm doing an "as the budget allows" restoration, so it has a pretty pampered existence right now, even though where I live right now I don't have a garage. I'm hoping to change that soon, though.

Drive on,
Mike

Mike,

I agree with my fellow Gopher, Zoonhollis, the car looks great.

Since you haven't posted here long, I want to point out that the MB Autowerks is in Atlanta, and the grand opening should be next spring. As we get closer to that event, I feel quite sure that there will be many of us coming to Atlanta for that event, even from the Dallas area like Zoonhollis and myself.

I hope to have my half million mile 240D back on the road for that event, but it may not happen. In any event I look forward to seeing you there.

In the meantime keep waving the flag, there are several diesel guys in "Jawga".

Have a great day,

Hey Mike,

Fellow Atlanta area dieseler here. Would love to get together with you and compare notes especially since we're both tooling around in W116's. My baby is black on black and in what I thought was pretty nice shape til I saw your pics. Wow! What a beauty. Love that W116 look.
Where in town are you located?

Joe

Another Atlanta Dieseler here, but I have a 240D (123 body). Count me in for getting some Atlanta folks together to compare notes on maintenance, repair and restoration.

Hey, Joe (HEY-- sounds like a Jimi Hendrix song!--sorry, couldn't resist. Bet you're tired of hearing that one eh?)

That's killer, man...I knew I wasn't all alone here in ATL! I'm in downtown, in the Highlands/Little 5 Points area.

We definitely should get together soon...I bet black on black makes for a very good looking 300SD! The 116 is my favorite of all the diesel MBs...I'm just a sucker for big cars with lots of chrome!

Just did a little work on the car today...got the power locks working again. The front passenger side door had been not working for a while. I still have a leak somewhere, because it loses vacuum overnight, and they won't work until I start the car again. Also put on a used ACC servo that I got a great deal on, but the ACC amp is burned out, so I still don't have heat until I get a new one.

HI to you too, James! What part of town are you in? Let's see if we can round up a few others, maybe some non-diesel MBers too? I'd love a get a dozen or so of us together before the weather gets too cold.

You guys have photos of your cars you can e-mail? Feel free to write me, my e-mail is mikemover@mindspring.com.

Hope to see you guys (and your cars) soon!
Mike

Oops...

Almost forgot about Larry! Hey, man! We'll be glad to have you Texas MB guys in Atlanta! I do hope you're able to bring the 1/2 million mile car! That's awesome! I'll probably be doing a lot of travelling in the spring, but hopefully I'll be around for that opening.

Drive on,
Mike

Count me in - need at least a months lead time though. Why not make it the same weekend as the grand opening.

Jack here is Charlotte. Let me know when you guys plan to meet. I have been looking for a reason to get to ATL. I graduated high school there in 78 and still keep up with some old friends. The old 240 needs to strech his legs a bit too.

Mike,

I work in midtown on West Peachtree so we are pretty close. Of course after hours and weekends I high tail it to the burbs, but I am not opposed to driving somewhere on a Sat or Sun for a meet.

I talked to Donnie (Benzmac) a few weeks ago and he was optimistic that he would be opening up soon and it would be fun to have a get together coinciding with his grand opening.

Jack - Where abouts do you live in Charlotte? I worked in Charlotte and lived in Gastonia for 5 1/2 years until we moved down here about a year and a half ago.

Hey Jaclson, great looking car! Same colors as my 300SD! Very nice.

The grand opening get-together sounds like fun, but maybe we could do something informal before then? Perhaps this month, on the weekend of the 14th/15th or something? Maybe just a gathering in a parking lot, or for coffee (I'm a gourmet coffee addict...my roommate is part-owner of an EXCELLENT coffee shop in the Highlands area) or food or something, just to get to know a few of us, and to check out each other's rides, then we could plan something more involved for the grand opening, or whatever.

What do you guys think?

Mike

Not at home so I can't look at the "home" schedule but 14/15 weekend sounds like it is doable.
