1993 300D alarm system problem

I have not started the car in a few weeks. Today I go to unlock it and the alarm horn starts beeping and the lights are flashing. I try the key in the door and the ignition and still cant get it to stop or get the engine to start. Had to disconnect the battery. This never happened before but I checked the battery and it was down to 12.2 volts from just sitting a while. Could this have caused the problem. I'm charging it now and will try again in the morning.

Did you try the key in the other door & also in the trunk lock?

Good idea. I disconnected the alarm horn first for the neighbors sake. Yes I unlocked the passenger door and got it to start. Thanks for the advice. Now I'll have to check the drivers door switches.
