Heater/AC issue - 84 300TDT

Just got the A/C charged. The air is coming out the side vents and the defrost, but not the center vents. I had the switch panel off above the A/C controls a few weeks ago. Could this be a vacuum issue related to the lines behind the dash? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Summer is here.

Most likely the center vent vac pod. It usually bakes first.....

How hard is it to get to that pod? Is there some sort of vacuum system "smoker" that a non-professional can use to track down a vacuum leak?

Mighty vac is your best bet, you will be able to test your pods individually. if it's the pod I'm thinking you will need to pull the dash and while your there you may want to replace ALL the pods, that way you wont have to do it again if another old one breaks.

i have to push the button w/ arrows up and down first to get it going. then when i hit the down arrow button it blows good out the center vents. i don't really want to pull the dash so i'll live with it.

When you say "remove the dash", are you referring to the instrument cluster, or the entire dash?

Solved. Vacuum line behind the A/C controls had been pulled loose. Car now stops correctly and the vacuum locks work properly as well.

Vacuum sucks.
