Anyone ever put a dash cap on their 123

I want to replace my 240's dash, but as we all know perfect dashes are really hard to come by. Anyone ever put a dash cap on their 123? Anyone have pics of it? It's a much cheaper option but I don't want to see any seams.

Sweet. Can you tell that it's there or do you have to look pretty hard to see it?

Hey Andrew, remember at last years GTG at the Goose? RCOUNTS has one on his CD. It didn`t look too bad.

I guess I should have looked a little closer, but I didn't pay attention then.

I put one on my 124, didn't fit well, returned it. Ended up replacing the dash on it as well as on my 123, before I sold the latter.

One of mine had one, it was ok. The heat eventually took its toll on that too, as it started warping. So, I replaced the dash with a black one.

They are hard plastic, so there is a bit of feel issues to it. I had one that i didnt glue down - so it wouldnt stay in place.

I suppose it looks better than none, if the dash is really cracked, but it is a compromise. Makes it look good/functional, not like new.

I got one of those carpets for my old 300D, which was a good dash, I just wanted to protect it from the sun. Looked pretty good and of course then I could put stuff up there like the cell and remote for the stereo. (disregard the gauges, went a little nuts on that car )

Go for a VelourMat. I got one from global accessories for under $45 or so, to protect my black dash from any cracking (the dash is near-mint, with only one small crack on the far right.). So far, it's done a great job, reduced reflection off the dash on sunny days, and looks pretty good to boot. A friend even bought one for his older BMW after seeing how well the mat worked.

I had a dash mat on my wagon when I bought it. I'm not really a bid fan of the mats. The weather here in my neck of the woods is pretty mild so the dash doesn't get sun beaten like in other places.

I never liked the mats, but now that I have a hard plastic cover on the one of my cars....I can say I might prefer the mat. As mentioned above, its probably better than a bad looking dash, but it is still a compromise. Very clearly it is evident at the vents. I have to admit I overlooked this at the time of purchase. The dash looked ok, the car was very very clean, and I wasnt overly concerned. The next time I shop one of these cars, I will be sure to examine more closely.

My '86 SDL has the cover. Some where down the road I may attempt to swap the dash, but it is a low priority at the moment. The cover is warping from the hot sun here in the mid-atlantic.

Again, if I had to do this, I would first choose a complete replacement, option #2 would be a dash carpet as a reasonable compromise.

I put one on Elvira about 10-years ago (the dash was cooked from years in the Texas sun), it looks great and no one has ever noticed it. I've actually had people say, I can't believe your dash has stayed that perfect.
