Drop the transmission from underneath or pull it out with the engine?

I am pulling my transmission to swap in another one. I do not need to pull the engine but am wondering if it may be easier to pull it out the front along with the engine.

So, should I drop the tranny by itself or pull it out along with the engine?

I'm a little worried about working underneath a car just on stands. I've pulled the engine and tranny out together before but I have never just dropped the tranny.

What are your thoughts?

This is for my 84 300SD.

Ryan
