Is my OVP relay supposed to rattle when shaken?

Is my OVP relay supposed to rattle when shaken?

Hi all,

VEHICLE: 1987 201 turbo.

Here's my story:
I first lost my ABS, light comes on after the self test. Then, about a week later I lost my tachometer. And about a month after the tach, I've lost my AC. So I figured it was time to take a look at the OVP.

Fuses (mine has two 10 amp) were fine, but the relay make a rattling sound when I shake it. Is this normal? Could the above described scenario be caused by the OVR?

Is there any way to "bench test" the OVP?

I have bridged the 87 and 15 connections on the Klima and the A/C works fine.

Thanks ahead of time for any/all info!

OVP Relay

There is a test sequence, you may have to dig around in the Archives.
(I'd start with any post attached to Arthur Dalton's name.)

(Some of these wild men on here have successfully taken bad ones apart and
Re-Soldered them.)

FYI : Pn 201 540 37 45 KAE (Brand New in Box "Spare",manufacture date 34.08) does not rattle when shaken gently.

AND yes your symptom-ology does match a bad OVP.

ReCycler (Junkyard) until you find one that doesn't Rattle and "Test" your chassis with it.
