GP Relay Troubleshooting question
I have been working on no-glow GP problem for the better part of two weeks now.
All GP's are within spec. I wasn't getting current through the Relay to the GP's so I thought I would replace the relay. I did so with a used unit . . . no change I reinstalled the old relay . . . turned the key to run and checked it again . . . no difference in response (no output to GPs). However, when I removed the female four pin connector (checking for voltage) and then reconnected it the relay functioned properly (voltage to GP's and timed off as it should). I still did not have a GP light on the dash. So I experimented by removing the battery ground, turning the ignition key to run, then reinstalling the battery cable. Nothing Removed the female four pin and reinstalled it . . . relay functioned normally. I have already replaced the ignition switch. I have traced the wiring about as far as I can go and cannot find a worn area or shorted area. I need help from the gurus!

I've had to disassemble some plugs and gently squeeze the female contacts to get them to bite the male end. Dunno of this is your problem, but thought it might help.

Ground (AND/or connections)
Sheesh, you've diagnosed the problem yourself.
(I'll bet it's a Pre-glow ReLay Ground) Zomezing, with the 4 pin connector,it's cables or terminations is amiss. Investigative due diligence with the DMM will No Doubt reveal the culprit. [Far outside chance the ReLay's internal connections to the 4 Pin (s) is bad.] [Sears (Of the RoeBuck) and HF regularly have sales on inexpensive DMM s. Trying to "Prognosticate" the "Troubles" without one is like "RAV" (Remote Area Viewing) ,a fairytale in the making.

I'm in agreement with Scruffy, I had to pull all my connectors apart and gently squeeze the barrel connectors in order to resolve my persistent GP relay failure problem. You don't have to squeeze too hard, just enough to coax the barrel tight enough to make contact.
It would appear that repeated removal of the plugs causes the barrels to expand slightly and lose contact. I think that it happens when the plug requires some wiggling to get it off. Steve A

Dude, Compress Ignite . . . you lost me a little buddy.
I have a Multi Meter but I don't know where to begin as far as tracing a ground or short problem. What seems "odd" to me is that all of this was fine . . . I went away for two weeks . . . then no GP light. I'll try taking the plug apart tomorrow and crimping them slightly (this seems the easiest to start with anyway). Thanks guys! I was hoping to have some suggestions before I went to bed. Also, how do I check to see if the GP light is functioning?

Update . . .
Sorry this took so long!
I got everything replaced and fixed . . . I didn't need the new ignition switch but it was replaced anyway. New alternator and crimping the GP connections corrected the problem. I do have another problem (A friend suggested I name my car delilah for all the pain she's caused me! LOL) but I'll search first before I post. THANKS GUYS!! (it took me so long to re-post because my computer was in the shop)
