erractic spedometer w126 87 sdl

Rencently my spedometer has begun to randomly act strange.... it says im going far faster then i am. im thinking this is a sensor or electrical problem. today while doing 30 it jumped to 60 then around 100 while i was going 65 (based off guestimation of surround traffic and rpms) then popped back to 65 and worked normally for the rest of my commute. this has happened a few times before but its getting the be a regular occurance. any ideas? i couldnt find other threads with the search outlining a similar problem others have had

Check for corrosion on ground strap on back of instrument panel..sometimes strap gets corrosion and does really weird stuff.

Mine did that and then died. I too, plan to pull the cluster and check grounds. Good luck

My temp gauge on my W124 is doing the same thing. I tried a different sensor, didnt change things so I figure its another thing to do when I get to pulling the cluster.
