Was it that nice blue one?

TylerH860 08-26-2010 01:52 PM

The blue one is long gone. They are red and black, and the first year of the Seville facelift.

I have learned since that the post 2000 motors got stronger heads/head bolts and are relatively trouble free. Expensive lesson.

I heard the '98 STS came ith a pretty nice stereo. One of the first cars with Dolby 5.1 surround. I remember reading this in 1998 in one of the car magazines.

Back to your 560 SEL. I really like it. Beautiful car. :)

Here are my "If only's"

If only it weren't so far away. If only it had a Diesel engine. If only the wheels had fresh paint. ;) If only I had $6750 to spend on a car. :(

I have however mentioned your car to someone who mentioned they might be interested in a nice w126. It is a nice 126.

I'm curious. How many siblings do you have? Younger than you? Your parents house is SOOOOOOOOO huuuge!

1 sibling. They built that house a few years after I moved out.

I've had great success with rattle can restoration on Mercedes wheels, but I decieded to keep the original, or have them done right. I can have them looking new for $300.

TylerH860 08-26-2010 04:49 PM

The euro 500SL has refinished wheels and awesome vintage style Pirellis. The price is a bit higher though.

I wish I could list it here.:(

Yeah, that's a nice car too. It is too bad you can't advertise it on here.

I'm starting to itch for a Mercedes I don't have to restore first.

My perspective on car ages has changed drastically since I bought my first Mercedes. I that that car was old, but it was only 6 or 7 when I bought it. But for some reason I expect 126 series Mercedes to still look new. In my head I'm still in my 20's but my mirror keeps insisting that I'm going on 50.

Its certainly the cheaper way in the long run. I probably have $20,000 in nearly a decade of bringing Zippy the '85 500SL back. Its very nice, but the one I just bought is much better overall, and I'm pricing it at around 10k.

compu_85 08-26-2010 06:05 PM

They should let you advertise here if you donate a cut ;)

I'm doubting that.....I raced a Gasser Suburban of similar vintage the other day, and it Lost. Pretty sad. They probably used like 3 gallons of gas trying too. :D

I offered to pay so I could advertise, but the webmaster said no. While I'm only have maybe one MB to list every 2 months or so, its understandable why they want to stay firm and keep dealers out of there. If you don't think your opinion of car dealers can get any lower, try becoming one and going to the auctions where they let loose. Its unbelievable the things they will say and do.

Benzworld wanted $200 a month... Hilarious.

I wish you could drive it. This thing has some grunt, trust me. If it were a 350 carbed gasser like 99% of them I wouldn't have touched it. Any speed over 65 feels suicidal though. I did a little poking around and it looks to have good ol' mechanical fuel injection. Can anyone confirm this?

Here is a video of one doing a WOT... see

My limited knowledge of chevys tells me they didn't have computer controlled diesels until the 6.5 sometime in the mid 90s. You could tell easily... there would be no throttle cable going to the injection pump.

Oliburners.net has a lot of info on 6.2's. Look up Towcat, I think He's a moderator, very knowledgable on 6.2's.

Sorry I'm late to the party on this one. That van is magnificent Tyler. I love vans.

I swear I posted this earlier but I must not have hit POST after PREVIEW...

The truly sad part about the gassers, is that 99% of them were not 350s, they were 305s!

Yes the mechanical until '94. I was a Chevy salesman for awhile in the early '90s...
