definitely mechanical. rotary stanadyne IP. I think by 83 the blocks were the weak version. very prone to cracking of the crank webbing. wonderful that it's not a tow vehicle. my 92 2500 3/4 ton pickup FLIES 0-60 in 10 seconds easy. it has a 3.73 rear gear and tall 16" work tires, so it tops out around 80mph at something like 5000rpm.
that van with 15" tires should have a 3.42 gear in it wimpy 10 bolt most likely. still should pull strongly from stop to 60 in 11-14 seconds depending on how fresh the injectors are. Post a video of a 0 - 60 run!!! lets see it roar! |
Yes, I thought of that too. No tow package means no abuse. It also looks like the engine has been taken out and resealed at least. Unfortunately I don't have a history to know exactly what has been done.
I'll put it on Craigslist tomorrow and Ebay on Sunday. We'll see how it goes. |
Took a deposit from a dealer in Florida who specializes in old conversion vans... I didn't realize someone could carve out a niche in these.

Wow, that is clean for that era van
