Crazy thought, Probably dangerous too!!!

I saw a post here with a link about how you could make a low buck water meth system using your existing washer bottle and buying an atomizing nozzle. I am doing that to clean the chambers/rings of my diesel. A thought arose, probably a dangerous one. Could I not buy a small universal washer tank & pump, run fuel line off it to another nozzle mounted pre turbo. Keep diesel in the small tank and have a inside mounted momentary switch to activate. I was figuring the diesel equivalant to a NOS shot. Like I said, most likely a bad idea. Any thoughts???

you'd have to squirt a lot of liquid to get hydro lock

pre-adding diesel sounds like a recipe for run away if anything goes wrong, maybe stick with injecting fluids that aren't enough to keep the engine running if that was all that was being added to the intake

re: atomizing, there are fogger nozzles for small aquatic displays the make a fine mist like dry ice effect, but you'd probably have to mount a serious sized one, or multiple smaller ones to get enough mist volume per cylinder stroke... I think these use a piezo driven element to get a high frequency going to bust up the liquid, versus relying on nozzle design to make smaller droplets from a high pressure stream. It might be comforting to know a piezo element can't fail and start throwing a stream of liquid into the intake, increasing the risk of hydro-lock, but you'd have experiment and force some failure modes to find out for sure.

Bad idea,
You will get pre ignition of the diesel and could end up with a run away or a cracked piston just like running starter fluid. I know of some diesels that run methane (natural gas) or LPG, but this is as partial diesel replacement. If you need to do a water injection, you clearly have already an abused motor. Is this idea nothing more than a sick idea to inflict more damage to the motor ?

You don't think the turbo compressor wheel will be damaged?

Run away diesel

That was my first thought. The fuel would be sucked straight out from the aux. tank. Definitly not an idea to be tried.

Extremely bad idea that would destroy the engine on the first shot.

I made a cheap and dirty methanol fogger by taking two mason jars and attaching them to a bracket. I put two NPT fittings through each jar lid.
The first jar was stuffed with a copper pad and had a line going from the oil breather on top of the valve cover into it. On the other side of the fitting was a short piece of hose going almost to he bottom of the jar. The second fitting had a short hose that went to a fitting on the second jar. This one was stuffed with sponges that were soaked in washer fluid. The other side of that fitting also had a short hose. The final fitting had a hose that led back to the oil breather fitting in the intake tube right before the turbo (OM 603)
The idea was that excess oil (blow by) would get trapped in the first jar and as the vacuum developed by the the intake side of the turbo increased, it would atomize the fluid in the second jar and the vapor would go into the intake. The reason I used sponges was to prevent the vacuum from just sucking up fluid and damaging the turbo vanes.

By vacuum I mean the draw from the turbo intake not vacuum from the vacuum pump...

It worked fine, but was a waste of time...

I ended up returning the oil breather to it's original set up after a couple months...

Maybe if you used a really big jar for the methanol you would see some improvement...
The first jar did capture a small bit of oil from blow by but not enough to make me nervous.

That is a great recipe for a runaway.
