More Basic car education
One of the many suggestion I've been receiving are: bigger exhaust from the turbo to the mufflers and removed the mufflers. I get the bigger exhaust, but removing the mufflers, which one are they. I see two kidney looking mufflers one on either side of the car and then a big round one at the end. On a normal car (gas) the round one at the end is a resinator for quiter car and mufflers is before that. Is it the same in this case, the two kidney item are mufflers and the round one is a resinator? Thanks in advance.

I don't think you'll get any real benefit from a marginally larger exhaust pipe, it's a diesel. A well engineered diesel.
On the SD the two "kidney" or central mufflers are resonators. When I redid my exhaust system, I asked the mechanic to run a pipe straight back to just a new round muffler. I asked if he could rig up a rod welded to the pipe the width of the car in the location of the now gone resonators, with a bend on each end so I can use the stock hangers in the stock position. Less weight and a bit more sound, nothing obtrusive.

Which car is this on? I did very similar to Toomany I put in a full 2.5" straight pip from the turbo back to a resonator on my 83 300D. I did not have a performance difference, but the sound difference was worth more IMO. I loved it immediately, there was a very nice rumble from the back of the car, and it sounded like a tuned Cummins accelerating.

A Mercedes shouldn't sound like anything.

I wouldn't mind making mine a little quieter than the stock exhaust system.

I might be the odd man out here, but I prefer the refined sound of the Mercedes turbodiesel over the crude sound of a Cummins powered truck.

I am glad they are the resinators, that was my plan this week end to weld in a straight pipe to the muffler. that was a great idea for the long rod to reach the hangers. As far, as sound I like the traditional Benz sound, then again I might go to a different muffler just to have a different sounding Benz (Unique). Thank you for your inputs, my "to do list" is growing, that's good keeps this "olde chief busy".

Unless I'm driving my Ram. Then I need to hear the sound of a Cummins or...get ready for another VP.

On my SDL the tin worms ate the muffler, but ignored the resonator. I put a straight pipe in place of the muffler. It sounds good... when the car runs again I'll have to make a recording

Here's mine, I don't really hear it that much and maybe the camera is distorting the sound a bit, but you don't hear the turbo.
