It seems to me that a California based company named "Pick-n-Pull" is taking over all of the Dallas based yards around here.

I'm kinda disappointed, cause the LKQ wrecking yards used to allow you to go from one yard to another, and not have to re-pay. LKQ did some trading with pick-n-pull, and now every damn yard around here seems to be corporate owned (I live in Dallas)

The best yards I've had luck with are usually yards where you pay a buck or two to get in- and you have to pull the parts yourself. Most of the time, the prices of the parts are posted on some board for you to read. If not, you should ask the price of the part BEFORE you pull it.

I've made out like a Bandit multiple times, cause the formly owned LKQ yards used to have 1/2 off weekends around Memorial day, Labor day, Thanksgiving weekend, Christmas weekend, and new Year's weekend. A motor that was complete- from fan clutch to flexplate- that would normally sell for 150, (on a half off weekend) would sell for 75 bucks.

I installed a 4.0L in my Cherokee from the LKQ yard on a half off weekend, and was bragging to everyone about how slick I thought I was...getting a complete motor for 75 bucks...then I blew that head gasket by overheating it (pulling my trailer)

There are deals to be had, but you got to watch some of these jackasses that think everything they got is worth its weight in gold. One of these full service yards around here wanted 100 dollars for a used distrubuitor for my Cherokee. It was 60$ at Oreilly's. I told him to pound sand, and he said "okay; I'll go down to 80 dollars, but that's as low as I'll go-and I'll pull it for you". I told him "I don't think you heard me; it is 60 dollars NEW!!!"
