New Dash a-commin'

My nearly perfect black 123 dash should be here tomorrow. Can't wait to see it. I know what I'm doing this weekend!

My interior will be nearly perfect. I need to find a under dash panel, one of the clips broke on my driver's side one and it hangs down.

Looks like you can get several different chassis but not the 123. They have 107, 116, 126, 201, and some others. A new one for most of those was over $1500. And a used one was $500-$800. I wanted the reptile skin pattern to match my interior, and all the black ones that I've seen except this one have had the wood grain style pattern.

Battery disconnected? I think the screws on the headlight switch are hot. Easy to short something out - since there appears to be something dangerously close to the switch...

Battery's disconnected. Too many hot wires under there to leave it connected. The clock wire is always hot too. I fired a fuel/temp/oil pressure gauge that way.

Here are a few pics of the dash ready to go in, and a few after the install.

How'd you get the glove box door to fit so well? Looks fantastic!

If the dash is in good shape the glovebox lines up pretty well. I found that out after removing the warped dash and replacing the new one. There are also adjusting screws on the hinges. Too much torque or age/misuse will crack the plastic on the "cup tray" where the screw mounts up though. A rubber gasket for a faucet reinforced one of mine.

Thats actually the my original glovebox door. The one that came with the dash had a funny warped spot by one of the hinges. It take a little playing with. There is lots of adjustments that can be made. It probably took me an hour of tweaking to get it right.
There are two screw that hold each hinge to the dash that can by pulled out or push back, and a two nuts holding the door to the hinges that can be slide in or out. And you can adjust where the catch is bolted on to the glovebox, and the depth of the stops. I also had to slight bend the latch mechanism in the door.

Got a better pic today.
