The drifting TD on Jalopnik

Check out the article on Jalopnik about that drifting TD that was posted a couple weeks back.

Ok. That makes sense now. Not a 617 engine. I knew there was no way he got the old beast to growl and push like that.

I would like one pumped up like that, but not to race. just so I could smoke em from red light to red light with the tires.

It pretty cool what he does with it on the track.

It would be fun. When I was working at the diesel shop we put TDI's into vanagon. What a sleeper. A juiced up TDI in a vanagon. I'd get the look, "here come an old SLOW vanagon". Then I'd punch it and leave them in the dust. Ah ha it was great. A few of them sounded pretty mean to boot.

I've meet up with DieselGeek here in Austin a time or two. He's done some fun stuff with the 1.9L as well.

The 2.0PD in my wife car doesn't have as much available for mods.

I had a VR6 Vanagon Syncro, ... was pretty fast except for the rev-limiter hitting it hard around 110.

I was just talking to my buddy that owns Greaseworks yesterday about my 1.9L PD. He was saying there is a chip you can put in that yields more HP and MPG, the chip is about $400 though. But in the long run it will save money.

Cruise over to tdiclub.com and look through the B5 forums. Lots of info. A rocketchip chip has been done by many with high reviews. Not sure if you're aware of the BSM (balance shaft module) issue with the 2.0L BHW engine or not but you really should be. Check that out while you're there too.
