Vanishing diesel SPECIAL tools

Racking, fracking, snaggle, GRUMP!!!

Do you ever have one of those days/weeks when tools seem to vanish...

Then pop up when no longer needed..

This is why I have two 32 SPLINED delivery valve sockets.

I can generally find one in seconds.

Not this morning when needed, but both tonight.

Any chance you'd like to sell one? Does one size reamer do both a 616 and a 602?

Slightly off subject but my Friend who was also a Mechanic (we worked in different shops) got tired of the Tools he loaned out never coming back.

What he did was buy some really low quality cheap tools. When someone ask to use a tool he gave them one of the Cheap ones.

After a month or so people stopped barrowing from him.

Great story though! Subtle but effective

I am not generally your most organized person, so I thought things like this only happened to me, and not to you better organized people. (There's a reason I have never posted a picture of the inside of my garage.)

I feel better now. And it was cheaper than an hour of therapy.

You mean, not everyone has one of these giant things stuffed with tools at home that you can just read the drawer labels on to find what you need when you need it?

Don't think I'm out of touch. I am only a recent convert to the religion of organised tools, and I definitely served enough time as the poor guy that couldn't find the tool he needed when he needed it. It took me two decades to get something besides milk crates and 20" tool boxes to keep tools in, and I'm still in the process of filling and labelling the compartments of this roll-about after five months. The mountain of difficult to sort through tools is getting smaller, though!

Ahem... I highly recommend one of these big boys... It makes wrenching much more enjoyable.
