Steps to loosen the alt bolts

Hi. Go to the 'login page' of Peach Parts. Arrow down to the DIY by Parts Category section. Click on it.

Then find the Fast Navigation Links and click on it.

Arrow down to 'Engine Electrical'. Click on it.

Arrow down to 'Diesel Engine' section and click on 'How to loosen alternator bolts'.

Good luck

If I recall... the downside was having to loosen the power steering belt and the AC compressor belt to allow the most rearward alternator belt to come off.

13mm socket to loosen the pivot bolt and clamp bolt on power steering pump.
Then using the 13mm loosen the tension bolt at top.

For AC use a 17 or 19mm wrench from bottom, two bolts.
The a 10mm, usually deep socket to loosen tension, from the top.

Now get both belts off and go after the Alternator belt.

if still stock, you have to loosen all three pivot bolts, and an adjuster bolt on all the accessories. PS 13mm bolts with nuts on the front you have to hold. (that lower one is a pain to get to, don't break the fuel lines!) also, you might wanna remove the vacuum hose to keep from breaking off a nipple... then on the flat there is a 13mm adjuster bolt you have to loosen.
then the a/c bracket, it has three 19mm bolts on the back that have to be loosened, then the 10mm adjuster nut between the oil cooler hoses... on the bracket the a/c is bolted to.
then and only then can you get to the alternator bolts, which are 17mm, and there are three that are loosened from the back. and the 13mm nut that goes on the weird dual bolt thing that substitutes for an belt adjuster...
