How to bleed air from radiator/cooling system
i just replace the Thermostat n flush the coolant by opening the screw from bottom of the radiator , i did a quick start when the Radiator screw n thermostat was open to c if i can get more coolant out but nothing out.
so i put thermostat n closed the screw. i start it n the temp is going up but no Heat inside, blowing cold air n it seams like coolant is not circulating. Temp goes high n the 2 fans in front turns on. how do i bleed air ??? is it possible i broke the water pump |

In addition, with the car pointed uphill, fill the engine by removing the top radiator hose at the radiator and pouring coolant into the hose so it runs into the engine. Be careful not to damage the plastic neck on the radiator.

You didn't break anything, you just need to fill as per above, until you can't get anymore in. Then take it for a drive until the thermostat opens up - your heat will return. |
this morning i turned it on c if it's gonna work so i can go to work with it, but it was same problem, temp were going close to 80 but still no heat inside,
today im gonna try to put stand in the front n c if all thi air would come out. |
sorry guys forgot to mention my car, it's 96 E300D

When i did my coolant flush i back filled the heater core as well as the engine.
I overfilled the expansion tank and just drove. About two days later i checked again and it was low so i filled it to the max fill mark and life has gone on ever since. |

Fill tank with water, start engine turn on heat let it run until warm and check level. It will burp itself.

finally got it fix:D, how???
i left it the car for like a day on my driveway(kinda uphill) n reservoir cap off. yesterday when i got back from work i went check the reservoir c if it needs water but it didnt so i open the hose the one on the top left Radiator, as soon as i opened it i heard puuuuoshhh, alot air came out so i add water in reservoir put everything back. Started the engine n heat, temp start rising and i could feel the heat works:D. so temp was close to 80 n good heat , working fine now. i drove it this morning to work temp was around 80(little less) and Thanks for your help guys:thumbsup2: |
One sure way to bleed air in a cooling system is to draw a vacuum in the cooling system until all hoses has collapsed. Then let the vacuum in the cooling sytem suck in the coolant.
