87 300D Oil Light on dash
I was driving yesterday and the Oil Light on the dash started "blinking" at me and then came on solid. Oil pressure gauge was reacting normally peaking at 3 as I accelerated. I immediately pulled over!
I popped the hood and checked the oil. It was perfectly between the Min and Max. What can be the problem? I am slowly doing repairs. Just changed the transmission fluid and filter this past weekend. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to make her run better, not worse. :-/ Thank You!!! glenn

The sensor has failed or you have an open circuit to the sensor.
The sensor is on the side of the oil pan and has a single wire to the cluster. The switch grounds the wire for OK oil level. If the ground is lost there is an electronic circuit in the cluster that turns the light on.

Thank You for the insight Jay Bob!
I will be under there tonight replacing engine mounts. If the wire is actually connected, how do I test the sensor? You wouldn't happen to have a part number? ;-) Thanks Again! glenn
