New here, 76 300D... need help

I didn't see anything about double posting so being the diesel side and I just asked the vintage side... here goes.

My husband and I are a Subaru family, we know nothing about Mercedes but my friend wanted to scrap his 300D? He didn't tell me much about it... The motor was rebuilt 6 yrs ago and it has never been run... never even put fluids in it as he ran out of money for the fix up, but it cranks.... I told him to let me try to find her a good home before he scrapped it.... Can anyone tell me what we have?

I know the VIN is 115 114 12 28085

I have pics available, but I don't know this site so I don't know how to upload them yet.

you can upload pics in several ways, simplest is when you click on the post reply, or create thread buttons, at the bottom under where we type there is a manage attachment button. click it, then browse to the photo's and hit upload.
also, you can upload your pics to any photo hosting site, like photobucket, or imageshack, or picassa, and open the pic, then either copy the image tag, or right click on the photo, and copy the image location, then paste it into the text body, or paste it into the space when you click the yellow square above the text body box.

it sounds like you have a 115 300Diesel. a very classy car, and aside from it's quirks, it's pretty easy to operate, and maintain.
post them pics, and then ask all the questions you like.
you can also click the search button at the top of the page, and search for questions that have already been asked, and answered... (oil type for instance... severely covered!)

Pic Problem...

Well, I will have to take pics tomorrow and somehow get them online w/ out internet capabilities... the computer I had them on crashed friday and my craigslist posting I had took them off because the pics were deleted...
Ok.. not much in the way of questions on how to fix her, more on how do I go about getting her to someone like y'all that will fix her the way she deserves since I have absolutely no money to do so...

the odometer says 40490, all four original hubs and wheels are there, it's got tree sap everywhere, and due to the back passenger window's 'reverse vent wing' window thingy being broke, the interior needs a GREAT big cleaning and I have not much time as I have a 9 month old. So, what do I need to do to see that someone gets this car?
I would love to rebuild this car, but my husband's dream cars come first...
Oh, and, the interior seems to be in nearly immaculate condition other than the dirt and grime

hi Stubbs
Welcome to the forum.
I would love to help you with your car but Im a little far away.
If you are looking to sell it, there is a sales section on the forum.
On the other hand if you want a good indi to do the work for you, I am sure plenty will tune in soon.
You have a very desirable car that with a little TLC could be some ones pride & joy.
We look forward to seeing a few pics. There should be a few members not to far from you who may be interested depending on what your plan is.

plans for the car

Well, I haven't gotten that attached. I am still waiting on the title, and I owe him $150 left... I only paid part up front cause he dropped it off in my yard and didn't have a title... I would love to see her resto'd and wouldn't even mind someone coming and getting her, doing a resto w/ the intent to buy, with a full bill of sale, and not paying til the title was available... I just want to see her fixed up, not trashed, I am not asking for any more than What I have put into her, $500... I know it's a lot for a non running car, but from what he told me and the reactions I have gotten from y'all it would seem to be an ok amount and that I didn't get shafted..., hopefully someone can get her back to perfect!
