Why would this light be flashing?

https://youtube.com/shorts/mTUGD_tc7mw?feature=share

As is often the case, I am without clue.

I think it means it is in fault condition.

I've read on MBworld that on w124/126 A couple of things can cause the recirc button to blink.
1. If accompanied with heat at defrost vents, usually indicates a mono/duo valve stuck/sticking
2. It could be related to the car being in Diagnostic mode if a code blinker, or code reader was recently used. The DTC system needs to be taken out of diagnostic mode to clear.

That's all ive read, never had it happen to me tho.

Interesting thoughts, I’ll research it more. I’m not sure how long it was flashing but it’s not flashing now. I hate mysteries.

Does it go away after a bit? If so it's just low voltage...certain features can't be used until voltage reaches a certain level. Very common with an aging battery.

I don’t think it would be the battery, I replaced it a few weeks ago and it’s been starting very well since, had been getting sluggish.

If it has a charcoal filter for foul order control then it's telling you watch out you'll really smell it next time so you'd better change the filter??

Then it's low voltage for some other reason.
