Question '72 220D Engine Shut Off cable Question.

Hello,

I have a 1972 220D, I have just replaced the engine shut off cable (Bowden cable) support clamp which screws to the back of the injection pump (rubber was rotted out). I was wondering what the procedure is when it comes to clamping the cable housing in the right place? Does the starter/shut-off knob on the dash have to be set in a certain position? Or does the lever on the injection pump have to be in a specific position? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike.

With the cable in the run position, the cable should be adjusted so that the rubber is positioned a few MM away from the shaft.
