Diesels are timeless!

My 2.5 turbo 300D is only 10 yrs old.(Remember when that was trade-in time?) However, when I start that wonderful oil burner it smells the same as a 240D. At 180,000 miles I look forward to many years of satisfaction with this car.
I think I love these cars mostly because they remind me that no matter what craziness happens, that five cylinder wonder will do what it should; PERFORM FLAWLESSLY!

A couple of years ago I had to buy a bus for our church. My choice was a 12 year old Eagle Coach that only had 750k on it. Some board members couldn't understand why I wanted to pay $60k for it when you could get a brand new school bus for the same price.
I eventually won the argument and we have a tight, timeless, 40,000 lb. diesel coach.
Every now and then you blow something in one of the air systems, cruise into a dealer 10 states away and presto-chango, you're back on the road.
That coach reminds me of my MB's. I'm never afraid to take them on a long journey knowing that stuff is fixable! And generally, you don't have a problem.

There is no doubt that these older diesels are timeless because of their simplicity. The styling that will always turn heads helps to.
