Front Crankshaft seal 602

Hi,

I am trying to replace the front crankshaft seal on a 1991 300d 602 diesel. I have removed v-belt pully, but the dampener is not releasing. the rubber housing makes a puller hard to get in. The manual that I have just shows removing the pully screws and the two pieces should come out.

Is there some trick or tip?
