1981 300SD fuel guage reads half, out of fuel
We have already tried multiple senders and instrument clusters, and still have the same issue. Half tank is actually empty. full is full.

You might try pulling you tank sendor unit out and cleaning it.

possibly your tank has imploded from a clogged tank vent? also, have you verified the tank screen is not clogged up, and the fuel lines are correct? the return line sits about 1/2 tank level, and if your supply and return are reversed, it would react this way.
