Italian Tune Up?

I have heard the term thrown around a bit but I do not know what an Italian Tune Up is. Flame suit on...Could some one please explain.

In an area devoid of police presence, unless you have a 240D.

Very true, I didn't clarify....but if I were to steal a car, I'm headed for the hills anyway - so I made some assumptions.

But yeah TT, and I wasn't calling you names, I just wanted to say beeyotch......your goal is blow all the built-up deposits out.

haha. so im pretty sure I give my 240 an italo-american tuneup on a daily basis. would this be bad?
but trying to drive it to keep up with traffic requires such here in dayton. traffic sucks. ugh.
and i wish my damn car smoked more.
people would understand why I'm going sooo slow.

The only problem I see is poor fuel economy.

My first Italian tune up was to put 1/2 bottle of injector cleaner into the fuel filter, the other half of the bottle into the tank. Then I did 0-60 runs. By the 4th run or so the car coughed up a huge cloud of black smoke. After a couple of more runs the smoke had stopped and the car was running MUCH better. (I went from 25+ second 0-60s to under 15 second 0-60s.)

Ah hah, seems as if my car was driven by and old lady and is in need of such a tuning, I might have to go find a secluded Mile road around Detroit and try it out. Thanks for the info!!!!

This is an "Italian tune up". The old Ferrari's would foul out there plugs at low RPM's. So if you drive slow they will run rough, and you need to run them hard to blow all the crap out. The old story goes that the owners would drop them off at the mechanic's complaining about a poor idle, and the mechanic would take it up in the mountains to blow it out.

Diesels respond well to them as well, on modern cars they are just for fun.

I've been across the pond and obviously seen video of people driving on "the wrong side of the road"......but that's just freaking unnerving to watch from that perspective, I kept wanting to pull the steering wheel over.
