123 Guide Rod Mount removal in PNP
I found a set of Guide Rod Mounts in a 240D in one of the PNP yards. these still have the paper sticker on the back side, and look new, looked like a MB sticker, but didn`t have my reading glasses with me at the time.
![]() My question is.... I have never replaced these, but looks like they come in from the back side. If so, looks like I could loosen up the bolt on the clamp, then turn the nut portion of the threaded rod of the Guide Rood mount. this should unscrew it from the long rod from the lower Control Arm. Then remove the 3 bolts and the mount should pull out from the back side. Or am I all wet with my thinking? If the Mount comes out from the front side, using a Ratchet Strap, could I pull the lower Control Arm forward enough to clear the Mount? and maybe push the Rod sideways enough? Here is a couple suspension pic I came across. Attached Thumbnails ![]() A simpler picture. ![]() Loosen clamp #38 Turn nut on base of threaded rod #26 Remove Remove #32, 3 Bolts Pull #5 Forward , lower Control Arm. Taking these apart at home is one thing and the JY another. just want to do it the simplest east safest way. First new one`s I have come across. Charlie
