Then 3 weeks ago, at PNP again. I spotted 2 13mm oil filter housing nuts that were not removed as they usually are by the yard rats that prepare the cars for the yard. I dig out my trusty HF 13mm impact deep socket from my tool box. attach it to my Craftsman 10 or 11inch ratchet and crank down on it to break loose the nut King Kong must have tightened. I hear it snap loose, and snap snap snap like a ratchet sound. the dang socket cracked on 3 sides about 1/2 way down. good quality china crap, probably from a melted down Yugo.

This set of 3/8 impact sockets have never been used with a impact gun.

For the most part the blue Nitrile mechanic gloves are ok, but some rip getting them on. the Black one`s are a little better, but twice the price at $12 a box, and even some of them rip getting them on.

I have the box of the Nitrile black O rings I bought a few years ago. I have used a few of them, and think some of the small one`s will fit the oil filter stem.

X2 on the Harbor Freight made in China Hack Saw Blades. The Blades seem to have alternating hard and soft spots on them.
The Teeth round off on the soft spots and the Blade breaks in the hard spots.

I when on eBay and bought 25 American made Hack Saw Blades when I had used up my Harbor Freight ones.

I also had bought some Harbor Freight Made in India Welding Rods (3 years ago). I had not welded for a long time and when I used them I thought it was my lack of practice.
I replaced them with Lincoln Welding Rods (Made in China!!!) and my welds got Better quick.
Since the time I bought the Indian made Rods Harbor Freight is now getting them from China.

I am guessing that the Indian Welding Rods were miss labeled and that they were Rods that should have been used with a Arc Welder that has the knob for DC/Polarity or a DC only Arc Welder. I have only an AC Arc Welder.

I have been using this socket set for over 5 years :

http://www.harborfreight.com/10-piece-high-visibility-12-drive-metric-socket-set-67916.html

I have yet to find anything worthy of replacement? Why? Becaust they came in a black metal box that is easy to carry around in my tool bag. Everything else is either loose (socket rails suck as do magnets in the tool bag at the junkyard) or in blow mold casing (I always tend to lose them or the case breaks etc.) .

Trust me I have looked high and low and yet to find anything comparable in utility and better quality. I have driven over the sheet metal box, stood on it, laid on it, dropped it (sure my sockets fell out) but the cheap sheet metal makes it easy to bend back. Is it perfect or pretty? No. Is it utilitarian? EXTEREMELY.

My 1/2" socket driver is a Husky brand and I have abused it for the last 10 years.

Was sold in Autozone for about $8 Dorman 172 piece Metric O-rings, Value Pack #799-450

In it are 24 of the 6mmIDx10mmODx2mmW O-rings that you need for the bottom of the Oil Filter Stem/tube: enough for 12 changes of both O-rings; as you need 2 O-rings each time you change it.
(If you want to sub the upper O-ring on the Oil Filter Stem/Tube with a 7mmIDx11mmODx2mmW and use the 6mm on the bottom you have enough O-rings for 24 O-ring changes.)

The 10mmIDx17mmODx2.5mm in the kit fits the bottom of the Filter Bolt; you get 24 of those in the kit.

Also made in China.

When I had to get specially sized, high-quality O-rings--- 10 or a 1000--

I bought them here:

Zatkoff Seals and Packings > Contacts / Locations

Roger Zatkoff is an OEM supplier who has about eight branches in the Midewest-- Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and ilinois, I believe.

Everything there is guaranteed and reasonably priced.

When I needed odd-sized square metric O-rings made of EPDM, he had them. Only requirement was a minimum order of 10.00, i.e. buy 10

Since the Germans wanted 8.50 plus shipping EACH, I bought ten, because they were a buck a piece.

They have much more common stuff stuff like buta-N and Viton too, but who knew they had EPDM?

The O-ring kit is good but I may buy one to see what kinds of fluids will dissolve or destroy these HF O-rings.

Stay tuned. I may need these since I don't have many, except some for Cummins engines.
