w123 Blower motor wiring
Hi,
Based upon my observation of some scent when running my blower at high speed, I want to make everything kosher. This means strip fuse, remove/clean/rebrush the blower, and in my idea, replace the wiring since it is one of the highr draw items in the cabin... I have plenty of automotive high temp wiring. So can anyone comment on the general known path of wiring to the blower? I assume the ACC activates some kind of relays that then move power through the various resistor combos to get the right voltage/speed. But can anyone give me a decent routing concept from the +/- wires on the blower back? Thanks!

The W123 did not use a 30A strip fuse; that was introduced part way through the 1987 W124 model year. The W123 used a standard 25A fuse in the fuse box. There really should be no issue with the wiring in a W123 unless it has been damaged. Some people have successfully replaced the motor brushes; when I had a W123 I replaced the entire motor as the commutator was badly worn.

The strip fuse is a viable backfit item to support the load that the blower presents to the fusebox.
Im more concerned with replacing aging wiring that sees a pretty substantial continuous draw, probably higher than any other electrical loads in the car. If the blower pulls 10-16A continuous at high rate, it is higher than any headlamp wire pulling 55W (4-5A). So why not make the whole situation better?
