W126 GEN II Sunroof seal

Well, after literally nine months of messing with my sunroof I got it working like new. I never want to do that again.

I got so involved with the sunroof mechanism and alignment that I wasn't sure I would ever make it work.

Well, I never did replace the sunrood seal. These later ones are different than the early ones. The rear portion of the seal is held on by a riveted strip (not the best forward thinking).

An old time mechanic told me that there was a trick to replacing it without taking the sunroof back out.

I am NOT going to do this all again, so either I can replace it without taking the sunroof out, or it stays.

Has anyone actually dome this, and if so how?
