constant white smoke issue.
The car is a 1976 w115 300D.
I have noticed that the smoke coming out of the tail pipe makes my hand feel slightly oily. Its not extremely thick smoke but i do feel confident with concluding that it is not water vapor. I did do a fuel cleaning operation similar to a "diesel purge" but with sea foam fuel injector cleaner. It didnt help much except with restoring a little power. I am not sure if i should be focusing on the injectors or the injection pump. Hopefully someone can help me pinpoint the issue. ![]() Thanks in advanced.

Focus on your vacuum pump. Check the vent line that runs from your vacuum pump to either the air cleaner or intake manifold. I bet you'll find oil in it, meaning you have a ruptured vacuum pump diaphragm. Simple quick fix.

well the line coming from the intake to the vacuum pump was dry as a bone on the inside.
I had my brother slowly rev up the engine while i observed any changes in the smoke(only an increase in volume) and i noticed a whistling sound coming from the tail pipe. I know that can happen when gasses are pushed pass the exhaust valves. I think i will do a diesel purge again but with actual diesel purge and adjust the valves(which i have been meaning to do). I will post the results. ![]()
