MB 190D trunk locked with lost key

Hello,

I'm new to the forum. I was cleaning my car with keys left in trunk. The trunk lock is in vertical position before I shut trunk and it got locked. The lock is good when working with keys hence no problem with lock that is clock wise locked and counterclockwise unlock after button press.

This is 190D 1988 2.5L 5 cylinder diesel car.
FYI, I have cancelled the vacuum and its totally manual including doors.
I don't remember if we have cable running through passenger back sit. In that case I'll have to open the doors first than trunk

I have already gone to threads to find the solution, But It seems mine is unique since the doors and trunk both are locked and my car keys are left in trunk. I donot have spare keys.

Since this is bought second hand I do not have contact of previous owner just to ask if he has spare keys.

Any help is appreciated.

You can take out the first aid kit bin on the rear deck to gain limited access to the truck and use a coat hanger and flash light (torch) to fish them out.

since your doors are locked also, you have two choices, locksmith, or dealer.
you can attempt to fish a coathanger into a window, and pull up on the driver's lock, and see if it unlocks the doors, then go in through the first aid kit, and fish out the keys...

BSharp, now that's thinking. My only truck keys were in my car (story i wish to plead the fifth on). my car was on top of a mountain pass 5 hours away (Ochoco's). I figured Ford would cost me an arm-and-a-leg. they said "it's 8 years old, we may no longer have the codes" what?!?!?!

I took in the title an my ID, $5 and 5 minutes later i was out the door. sheesh, i didn't think anything was only $5 at a dealer.

vkhorasia, did you get your key out of the trunk? Time for a hide-a-key?

I lost mine and went to the dealer and they order a set thru Texas and they'll do it overnight -- the cost was w/shipping here in Miami Fl. $68. Good luck.

I have used the coat hanger trick to open the 190 driver's door.

First protect the front and rear door edges along the windows with tape, to prevent scraping of paint. Wrap tape around a slot tipped screwdriver, and have a friend hold it about 4 cm below the top rear of the door and gently pry it outward. You now can fish the coat hanger wire with a hook formed on the end (shaped to be able to catch the door lock knob) into the car and hook the knob.

This is your best bet to get the doors open. I'd use leather (a belt is easy to come by) instead of tape for paint/ chrome protection. Make sure to sharpen the coat hanger hook to a knife edge point with a file. As for your trunk with the lock in the vertical position, get a key from the dealer.

The guy's in India--the "key from the dealer" could be a month or two in that part of the world!
