Rear end making noise

Hey guys, I noticed my 240 making some noise out of the rear end somewhere a few weeks ago. So I crawled under ther and noticed one of my inner cv boots was ripped. So I assumed that was the problem, ordered a new axle and put it in. Well it's back, and getting worse. It's a very loud clicking sound. It only starts up after I have been driving the car for awhile, like something needs to heat up before it starts. It's hard to tell when I'm driving but it almost sounds like it might be coming from the diff. When I had the car up in the air I tried to move the wheels back and forth to see if there was any play in the wheel bearings but they seemed tight and smooth. Any thoughts on where to go next?
